Research Fields

Our   group is focused on carbohydrate chemistry, glycobiology, glycoimmunology and   immunotherapy, and drug discovery. Our major research interests are centered   on: (1) Carbohydrate antigens are abundantly expressed on the surface of   tumor cells and pathogens. They are excellent targets for vaccine   development. One of our research interests is about the development of novel   synthetic carbohydrate-based vaccines against tumor, bacteria, fungi, and so   on.

(2)   Glycoengineering is a hot topic in chemical biology area. The strategy of   glycoengineering is a useful tool for the studies of glycobiology. In our   research, new strategies are developed for glycoengineering and further   applied in biological studies and immunotherapies.

(3)   Another aspect of our research is about chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis   of natural and unnatural glycans and glycoconjugates and their applications   in biology and medicine.
