Research Fields

1. Biosynthesis/bioproduction   of valuable metabolites by microbial fermentation

–   Natural Food additives: Red/yellow/orange pigments produced by   submerged/solid-state fermentation of Monascus spp.

–   Functional ingredients: Mushroom polysaccharides

–   Pharmaceuticals: Anticancer/hepatoprotective/etc. metabolites in edible and   medicinal fungi such as Antrodia camphorata

 

2. Bio-hybrid   materials & Biocatalysis

–   Production of value-added metabolites by bio-hybrid materials, such as   production of recombinant protein by immobilized microalgae

–   Asymmetric synthesis of chiral drugs or their precursors by microbial cells
