Research Fields

N-Linked   glycosylation is a major post-translational modification of secretory or   membrane proteins in eukaryotes, which plays important roles in countless   biological processes. Wang’s general research interests are to investigate   the synthetic methodology and biological function of N-glycans as well as the   protein glycosylation related enzymes. Currently, the projects are focusing   on in vitro preparation of various human N-glycans, by developing   novel chemo-enzymatic methodologies. In this process, functional and   structural analyses of involved glycosyltransferases and glycosidases are   also performed. These studies will offer different types of N-glycans, providing   useful substrates and tools for scientific studies of glycosyltransferases, glycoproteins   and pharmaceutical applications.
