As the first national research platform for carbohydrates in China, the “Key Laboratory of Carbohydrate Chemistry and Biotechnology (KLCCB)” was founded at Jiangnan University in 2011. KLCCB functions directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and also supported by Wuxi municipality, which is one of top ten cities in China with a long history and excellent economics. Jiangnan University has made enormous efforts in recruiting young scientists from different fields all over the world. Research areas related to or encompassed by our researchers include glycobiology, carbohydrate chemistry, synthetic and biosynthetic chemistry, microbiology, genetics, proteomics, drug development, system biology, bioproducts and synthetic biology. KLCCB is now evolving into a multidisciplinary community for glycoscience. We aim to develop emerging applications in biomedicine, and in fields such as food science and bioproduct resources.
