Research Fields

Prof. Z Bai set up his group in Jiangnan University in Sept. 2012. Since then his group has been focusing on filling the gap between China and developed countries in the areas of methodology, innovative technology, and QbD principle of bioprocess research/development for biopharmaceutical industry. His group has conducted serval projects funded by Chinese central government (863 and 973 program), Jiangsu province and some leading public companies of China in biopharmaceutical industry, aiming at supporting Chinese biopharmaceutical community to synchronize with the contemporaries of advanced countries in terms of technology and concept of biopharmaceutical process engineering. At the present, the ongoing projects running in this group include: 1) Bioprocess research of microbial fermentation for recombinant protein expression. 2) QbD driven bioprocess research of cell cultures at bioreactor scale for biopharmaceutics production, e.g. antibody, vaccine, and genetic modified T cell. 3) Study on molecular microbiology towards the establishment of innovative host cells and relevant genetic components for recombinant protein expression. 4) Design and validation of bioreactors for mammalian cell cultures from miniature to pilot scale. 5) Development of high throughput cultivation technology platform.
